Psychological Effects Associated With Same Sex Learning Essay Sample
Middle grade students are at that crucial stage where they are still trying to grapple with reality about their sexuality and hence the desire to express themselves. It is during this age that members of the opposite sex tend to be extremely shy towards each other. Unraveling the mysteries and stigma associated with shyness towards members of the opposite can be a step forward on minimizing distractions. Most of the learning about the changes occurring in their bodies takes place at this time therefore learning it in different environments can be helpful.
The appropriate study design of this topic is through experimental design and survey study. In experimental design, the students will be separated according to their sexes and then their performance over a fixed period of time will be compared with a similar but combined class over the same period of time. On the other hand, survey study will involve questionnaires that will be done on the students, teachers and parents who are the main stakeholders in the learning experience.
On the part of the survey, sample size will be based on the different grades and each category will involve 10-12 respondents (students). But when polling the parents and teachers the group size will be lower at about 6-8 to ensure data accuracy. After data collection, the various variables will be analyzed using two methods. One is ANOVA where it will test whether there is variance in the two group’s performance (same sex class and separate sex class). The other method is linear regression to check for interdependence of the several factors involved in the study and how close is the interdependence in influencing the final outcome.
