I AM IN A JOLLY GOOD MOOD!
The lawyer is just about to arrive with divorce papers and my freedom from this nasty triangle is going to be over soon. Oh Lord how I longed for this! It’s now a matter of hours before there will be no barrier between me and my skin! And, Miang, the leopard under his skin, would be out from my life for once and all! Oh God, how he led me into believing that he’s an expert in the oriental skincare! I should have realized on our first night itself, when he couldn’t name any branded facial toner, save the concept of “10 must do things” (Skin, 2007) for face!
And me, the silly girl! I thought he’d provide ideas on excellent antioxidants in our meals, I dreamt of learning new ways from him to get rid of the collagens (Beauty, 2007), the number one enemy of face?
Actually, I can’t blame myself wholeheartedly either. His oriental orientation could knock any chick with the prospect of conquering the entire secret oriental herbal range of products. But boy, look at how low I felt when he talked about the magic of drinking 8 glasses of water a day for skin! God, it’s passé! “Moisture level of skin is not determined by internal factors”(Derrick)!
Anyway, it’s better to be safe than to be sorry, and I’m happy with my decision of divorcing Miang. Well, I could have waited till he updated himself on skincare; but again it’s his skin that cements my decision. Beauty isn’t skin deep, but it’s not oil deep either! I can’t do with so much smudging references on my outfit after each hug from him..
Analysis of the Above Situation
The amount of intensity of concern in Ms Zozo about her skin reveals the new awakening around this corridor of healthcare, where skin is rightly recognized as an integral part of the body, and as important as kidney or heart (Skin Care City). This also hints at the fact that skincare should be taken as a lifetime project by every individual. With the advent of quality skincare products all around the globe, there cannot be any constraint in procuring them. Moreover, the digital way of shopping has provided the wonder of virtually buying anything with a single mouse click.
Those excerpts from the copybook of Ms Zozo also focuses the spotlight on one important factor, that even a standard beautician can fail if he/she does not update him/herself with the advanced ideas on healthcare that are coming out each day.
To utilize this situation, however, governments across the globe can meet annually and initiate the move towards forming a consortium of the MNC-s, who are engaged in the welfare work of producing healthcare products. That would surely provide ample scope for interaction, assimilation and dissemination of tons of healthcare data these MNC-s produce each year.
Then there would be no hapless Miang who would lose both the job and the sweetheart simply because of the ignorance about the latest trends and policies in the world of healthcare. The gravity of this void of understanding in healthcare is undermined when one judges it in the context of global warming, or for that matter, the overall global pollution.
Taking cue from Ms. Zozo’s sincere concern over her skin, one can envision its wide application around the globe. As for example, the governments can open some free testing labs to ascertain the types of the skin of each of its citizens before conducting a census and enlisting the citizens under their respective categories of skin, such as ‘Normal’, ‘Dry’, ‘Oily’, ‘Combination’, ‘Sensitive’ and ‘Aging’ skin types.
This databank would facilitate the way to better relationship on many folds; on governmental level, it would be possible for them to refrain from sending any representative with ‘Sensitive’ skin to deal any sensitive issue, or to send anyone from ‘Combination’ category in an uncertain situation. On the personal level, someone with ‘Oily’ skin would be able to create a fine balance in the companionship by opting for a ‘Dry’ skin mate, whereas the ‘Aging’ ones could get their much needed spark from the ‘Sensitive’ ones. This idea would open a new vista with innumerable windows of imagination regarding personal and collective relationship.
The above said situations regarding the epidemic of healthcare clearly point towards an untapped diamond mine of possibilities, which could serve as a springboard of quantum leap for the current civilization and to rest beyond the reach of increasing global warming or pollution.
