There is need to practice Nursing leadership skills even in uncertain times for effective delivery of health care services. Appropriate leadership skills ensure that the nurse treats patients in a dignified and respectful manner. The nurse will need to demonstrate professional competence in his or her duty while handling the patients and have ability to reason out and formulate instructions and orders which should be executed to ensure that the patient is well taken care of.
He / she should be able to influence other nurses and support staff to adhere to her/his instruction and implement his/her ideas in the recovery strategy which he/she would formulate this is achievable by creating a sense of trusting his/her abilities by the followers. The nurse should be professional and ethical to be able to influence others and have the skills needed to take care of the patient’s aliments so that herhis ability will not questioned because the AID’s patient she/he is taking care of has multiple aliments. Experience is very paramount to enable him/her react instantly to each complications which the patient is suffering from without referring the patient to different expatriates of the ailments being treated (Theofanidis & Dikatpanidou, 2006).
He/she should know the best methods which should be applied to solve all the complex situations due to the abilities demonstrated he/she will be effective and win confidence of the followers in aid of assisting the patient recover. He/she should recognize the team she/he is working with by commenting when they do well and support them when they fail this makes them feel that they are also part of the achievements being made in the recovery (Theofanidis & Dikatpanidou, 2006).
Aspects of leadership are shown when the nurse leader is known by the rest as a giver more than a receiver this earns him/her recognition among the members of staff they work with.
